#dogblr #dogs of tumblr #australian shepherd #2 years #kaija has become such a good little hiking buddy #this walk was gorgeous but also a bit challenging at times - for me because of some icy/muddy descents and steep ascents #and for kaija because we had to cross quite a few little rivers and creeks #but she did really great #she evaluated each crossing and decided for herself whether she would ford the river or go across these little log bridges #and during the rest of the walk too she of course was running around and exploring but only where it was safe #this trail would have been way harder to do with her at 1 y.o. since back then she tended to run and jump without thinking first #i was pretty impressed today-both with her physical capability as well as with how reasonable and thoughtful she was in her decision making

#Aka Emile is remembering going camping with his friends as a small child #And how fucking chaotic it was #We were just allowed to run wild over the whole campground because our group rented the whole loop and everyone was watching out for everyo #I still managed to cross like 2 roads when I was 5 and got lost and they weren't busy but a stranger still stopped me to ask if I was lost #And all the boys would bring their lightsabers and nerf guns and we would have whole battles #We even made little forts in the woods and stuff and we were fighting to protect the 'dragon' (friend's dog)#I was always either the spy or the doctor #There was also the time my brothers thought it would be really fun to tell me to just pee in the woods instead of walking me to the bathroo #I was delighted #My parents were not #And the swimming hole was cold as fuck but we somehow still got in it every year #And jump off the giant rock in the deep end of the river once we were good enough swimmers to handle the current #Once or twice we went tubing there too which was my first experience with that #And there was hiking with waterfalls nearby so we'd go do that #And that one swinging bridge that was really fun to run across #And we'd stay for like a week sometimes #I swear all the parents got the best sleep ever when we went too even though they were sleeping on the ground lmao #all us kids would end up in each others tents if they were okay with it #And all I can think looking back at it now is that a les amis kidfic would be fun to write off all that #Emile's chaos #I have so many more camping memories too

not to sound like a broken record but i love my friends so fucking much

#this week has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me but seeing my friends has been a life saver #genuinely my friends are so incredible #yesterday i went down to the river with two of them #the first two of us who got there read for a bit and then got in the water and did some really stupid splashing around #and it felt so free and it was so nice to laugh and act like an idiot and not just not feel self-conscious #but actually feel appreciated #(at one point they said ‘dude you look so gay right now’ and that’s the BEST compliment)#and then we spent like twenty minutes just throwing rocks #not skipping rocks #literally just finding big rocks and seeing how far we could throw them and enjoying the PLUNK they made #then we found a spot where the current was really strong to sit against and acted like idiots a bit more #and then our other friend got there and we all talked for a long time and read a bit more #and then today my other friend came over to body double for me while I start packing to move #and we found old books from when i was little and the things i’d written in them and had some good laughs #and then watched Babylon 5 (the episode itself was. kinda a downer and that’s an understatement. but it’s still Babylon 5)#tomorrow i’ll go see Papa again if he makes it through tonight. i think he will.#and then on the weekend i’ll see my other friend! and that’s always fun. plus i’ve been very physical affection driven lately #and they’re good for that. recently ive been getting really sick of my neighbors i wish that i had a bunch of money so that i could buy up their houses and only let people i live live near me

#neighbors 1 used to be friends but theyre trumpies and also neglect and borderline abuse their dog #i like river hes not a bad dog but hes not trained well and is a very large and powerful dog and really really wants to kill my cats #and they just let him loose wander in the road wander into other peoples yards and hes trapped me and my mom outside because #he tries to force his way into our house if we try to go back inside of our house and i kinda dont want my cats guts splattered everywhere #neighbors 2 have a fenced in yard with a lab and a husky that they leave outside all of the time in their yard #as far as i know they dont have a dog house or even food and water out there and absolutely no toys and the dogs bark constntly #probably because theyre so bored outside in the hot weather usually without shade and no entertainment they bark at each other #or anyone in the yards of the neighboring houses or they bark at the door begging to be let back inside or bark at the windows #and theyre patriots too they got one of those huge skeletons last halloween and theyve kept it up ever since changing out the spotlight #for holidays which initially i really liked i thought it was funny but then for memorialday/july 4th they dressed in patriotically #and i hate america so . i hate them and how they neglect their dogs #neighbors 3 they are related to the one good neighbor BUT. theyre married (?) and they scream at each other arguing all of the time and #because of the geography of where we live it echos right to our house very loudly and it gives me anxiety and they have a kid or kids #who sometimes cry loudly because they scream yell at each other loudly i kinda hope they (not the kids) go to hell #neighbors 4 i . im not sure if theyre newer here but they also have dogs but so far theyve kept them on leashes i think?#except for that one time where their dog just. walked up to me. idk if they let the dog loose on purpose or if it was accidental #but recently me and my mom were outside messing with the garden and They are also a couple and were screaming at each other #also ! i love straight people 😍 please breakup or get a divorce or move away or go to hell youre fucking crazy people go to therapy #and then theres the people on super loud motorcycles or in super loud cars and then theres the other neighbors with the isra hell flag #and the other neighbors that i SUPER SUPER SUPER HATE and have hated for YEARS ecause i went to school with one and hes #racist as fuck i hope he dies or something. and because of them we dont even go down the road that way #they have free roaming animals that would go into the road and they run some ? atv repair or something out of their house and sometimes #completely occupy the whole road loading shit or something. like if you want stereotypical redneck assholes its them #and i hate all of these people so much. mutuals you should live here instead of them. its the blue ridge mountains its higher altitude #its pretty but sometimes it rains and causes something of a 'creek' to flow but were on a mountain so it flows down and away #and well sometimes the sewer smells really bad for some reason idk but like . its fine dont worry about it #and bears might drag your trashcans up the mountain but just dont leave food outside and they wont do that #we have a . shockingly beautiful ?? dumpster on the road too so its okay 👍#dear lird i just scrolled up and thats a lot of words . o well

What a fun day to work at a veterinary hospital, as a classic rock addict who could make several lyrical puns about it whenever the occasional minor and funny inconvenience from it came up! There’s even a six-inch deep pond and a river flowing through the parking lot!

i finally got my adhd med dosage worked out and also for like the first time since upping the dosage actually managed to take it consistently long enough for it to actually kick in over the last few weeks and god damn. that shit is magic.

#im on the non-stimulant version bc the stimulant ones were too up-and-down for me #so they kinda act like how ssri meds do in terms of slow buildup #but now that I'm there its!!! insane!!!#I've been falling asleep just when I'm tired which I just am totally unable to do normally #I woke up before my alarm today and was like maybe I'll take a shower!! in the MORNING! as soon as I woke up!!!!#and left on time for my appointment w time to spare - then instead of going home after having accomplished the one (1) task for the day #i voluntarily just went and did MORE things. like. for FUN. and didnt have to force myself and be like 'you'll enjoy it once you're there'#then I finished doing fun things at the river with the dog and was like. yknow what? I'm gonna be productive and work on the car.#and I DID. then hung out and socialized and watched a movie after?#at this point this is 4 WHOLE THINGS in one day????? and it wasnt prescheduled and I did it all because I just felt like it #I am fucking astounded. I am going to do everything possible to make sure I don't fall off meds again bc like. this shit is lifechanging #as long as I'm not physically too tired I'm actually looking forward to doing more tomorrow too #like. god damn. not having to force myself to do things that logically I know I enjoy and just being able to DO them is insane #I'm gonna go to the weekly farmers market next week and pick up veggies. and then make something with them.#⭐✨magic✨⭐

today i saw a giant fireworks stand set up at the end of my street and now i am dreading the 4th of july even more than usual 😭

5 year dog plan updates: I think I've identified a breed (and 3 potential breeders), I have more clearly figured out what I don't want and what my life style will not fit and most important I need more experience with dogs in general

#so over a year ago i started doing research on owner training a service dog and i was in contact with a GSD breeder who had a puppy left #over from their last litter who was very hamdler engaged (this obviously fell through because i realized i was just too short on time before #uni and now knowing more about temperaments and genetics i wouldn't go gsd but this was a great breeder)#with what i know know i a) do not want a herding breed it would be incredibly overwhelming and b) would prefer a medium sized dog (if i find #a poodle or lab breeder I'm obsessed with I'd still go that route unfortunately my fav poodle breeder with multi sd's in their line/#offspring is in Arizona and that's basically a no go #my favourite dogs are mid sized gun dogs which do not make good prospects (see the stinky girl in her window bird watching rn) i also have #tons of experience with a Brittany spaniel and know my personal dream dog is very similar (slightly lower energy and prey drive) which puts #show-line English springer spaniels as the breed I'd be happy with and while they do great as police sniffer dogs and therapy dogs there #aren't tons as service dogs because they can be too high energy and unfocused (i know that their energy would not be a big issue if we #create good settling habits) and i really appreciate them being soft mouthed for certain tasks and my apartment is very close to tons of #river paths so we are good for breed specific enrichment and fun #i just really want more dog sitting experience and to sit in on training sessions with other people over the next few years #because I've stalked ess breeder who is so transparent and has tons of show experience and does incredible socialization #they would also just be really good people to talk to about the breed #i just there are reasons the popular breeds are popular but i find herding dogs incredibly overwhelming and labs and goldens put everything #in their mouths and end up sick from it (I've also mcas reactions after petting all the goldens in my neighborhood)#and poodles are smarter than me and i am a low maintenance grooming girl (i could handle shave done with poms though)#i have no poodle experience outside badly bred Doodles #of popular breeds the one I'd work best with is a bernese mountain dog but they are a grooming challenge and I'm going to live in a smallish #apartment and exclusively use public transit (the fab 3 would also struggle a bit with this since they are mid-large(
